Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust is seeking to appoint someone into our Education and Visitor Ranger role at the Tūhaitara Coastal Park. This permanent part time (40 hours per fortnight), contract offers a passionate candidate the chance to experience a varied and stimulating work environment where we really make a difference.
Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust manages Tūhaitara Coastal Park and the Tūtaepatu Lagoon in North Canterbury on behalf of the people of Aotearoa, New Zealand. The land administered by the Trust extends 10.5km from the Waimakariri River to Waikuku Beach.
Our mission is to create a coastal reserve which is founded on and expresses strong ecological, conservation and cultural values and provides opportunity for compatible recreation and education activities for all people of New Zealand and to uphold the mana of Ngāi Tahu whānui by protecting and enhancing the mahinga kai values of Tūtaepatu Lagoon.
The Education and Visitor Ranger role focuses on the delivery of the Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust’s education program, liaison with park volunteers and co-ordination of events. In this role, you will work with the Tūhaitara Coastal Park team, with external education providers, organisations, community groups, volunteers, and casual staff.
This role requires someone with a broad skill base and a keen interest in environmental protection and education. You will demonstrate strong time-management and organisation skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships and rapport with a diverse range of individuals. Always professional, you are also approachable and inspiring when interacting with others.
